How can they not expect them to be bad? Because, honestly, no artist is perfect and everyone’s creative journey has its ups and downs. Wes Anderson has made some truly inspiring films that have left a lasting impression on so many including myself. It’s only natural to hope he can do it again. Could he have lost his fastball? Maybe—but going in assuming disappointment feels like setting yourself up for it. If you showed Asteroid City to someone who had never seen his work before, they might be blown away by its originality, framing, and storytelling. Sometimes, expectations can get in the way of simply enjoying something new.
