It seems like you enjoyed the film much more than I did! Though I agree the scene with Moore trying to get ready for a date was probably the most powerful scene in the whole film. It was so brutal and raw and painful to watch, but not gory. I think that's the one moment where The Substance actually explored the emotional reality of hatred/disgust for your own body. The rest of the film seemed to revel in the shock value without having much to say. Satire is so tricky.

Sounds incredible, but I'm hesitant because of the body horror I'm reading about in all the reviews. I'm a pretty squeamish viewer
If you are squeamish to gore you're gonna have a bad time! I can handle a little gore but even I had a bad time lmao
I was just about to type the same. I really love the plot but I hate anything gorry so I feel I won't be able to enjoy it.

Might be my fave movie this year so far.Glad I caught it in a busy theatre and felt the reaction of the last 30 mins when it goe wayy over the top
